Had 73 students in my undergrad Wisdom and Poetry class last semester. Great class - way, way better than I had any right to expect; God was evidently at work, above and beyond my own deserving. Got all their research papers graded (whew!) and I now have 41 final exams left. Not even halfway done. Yikes. You know it's bad when I'm so eager to be done that I've counted out that there are 41 left!
The other day I was trying to get Will downstairs so I could rock him to sleep. To try to entice him, I said, "Will, there's a lion downstairs! Let's go look!" It used to work like magic - he'd be looking for lions outside in the middle of January, and even once looking inside a box of porridge for one when I told him one was there. But it backfired this time: he started crying, and said, "Lion bite me???" So I had to assure him that lions were an ontological impossibility, and sing him a song about how the lion and he were friends, the lion wanted to give Will a ride on his back, etc. The really cute thing was, that day at dinner, Will said, "Mommy Daddy safe." What a cheesy but wonderful Kodak moment!
